Big News! I have launched a kickstarter fundraising campaign for my arts business! For those who are unfamiliar with kickstarter, it is basically a fundraising website for start up products, businesses, creative projects, etc where you can receive funds from backers and investors to get your idea off the ground (similar to gofundme). I am raising these funds in order to support the creation of a body of artwork for a solo exhibition in 2018 in addition to the start up costs involved in creating my business, including an artist booth tent and display accessories for art festivals.
Long story short, I left my teaching position this year in order to pursue the arts full time and grow my arts practice as a business. To fill you all in a little bit, I am a nationally exhibiting artist currently residing in Richmond, Virginia where I maintain a studio practice of creating mixed media works that surrealistically fuse drawing and painting with collage and assemblage as a means of addressing mental health issues. You can view my work at www.melissaschappell.com or follow me on instagram @mschapp_art for further updates on my work and exhibitions.
To find out more about this campaign or to donate to the cause you simply need to follow the link below and follow the prompts. You can watch my video that explains the intent behind the fundraiser and read more about my work in the profile. There are rewards incentives for various donation amounts. The campaign will last 30 days, by the end of which I must reach my goal otherwise I do not get to keep any of the funds. No donations are actually charged until the campaign is over (October 11) and the goal is met, otherwise it is re-funded.
Please take some time to view my page, and even if you are unable to donate, any sharing of the link to my campaign profile and spreading of the word about my campaign will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support!
